Hunton Andrews Kurth Lawyers Speak at Vietnam’s Solar+Wind Congress & EXPO

Tokyo partner Sean Conaty and Bangkok partner Chumbhot (Arm) Plangtrakul participated as moderators and panel speakers on the “3rd Solar+Wind Congress & EXPO Vietnam 2022” held at Vinpearl Luxury Landmark 81 in Ho Chi Minh City on May 12, 2022. The congress focused on the further development of Vietnam’s burgeoning solar and wind power sector, including its nascent offshore wind industry.

Vietnam’s Power Development Plan VIII for the 2021-2030 period with a vision towards 2045 has been significantly delayed but is expected to be released imminently and will likely include details of a large number of renewable and other power projects. With its continued strong economic growth and growing power demands, it is expected that Vietnam will continue to be a center of activity for the renewable industry in ASEAN. Sean and Arm discussed with fellow panelists their experience of developing renewable and other major projects in Vietnam and recommendations for the optimal development of the sector for the future.
