Andrews Kurth Kenyon Partner Thomas W. Taylor of Houston Elected to American Board of Trial Advocates Membership
(Houston, Texas)—Andrews Kurth Kenyon LLP is pleased to announce that Houston litigation partner Thomas W. "Tom" Taylor has been elected to the prestigious American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), a nationwide organization of trial lawyers devoted to the rule of law and the preservation of the civil and criminal justice systems.
ABOTA membership is by invitation only and is based, in part, on a lawyer’s personal character and honorable reputation, as well as jury trial experience. Including jury trials, non-jury trials and arbitrations, during his career Mr. Taylor has tried more than 30 cases to conclusion.
"Tom is an exceptional trial attorney whose demonstrated commitment to the legal profession makes him the ideal candidate for membership," said Bob Jewell, Managing Partner of Andrews Kurth Kenyon. "We are very proud that he has been selected for ABOTA membership and applaud his leadership inside and outside of our firm."
Co-chair of the firm’s Litigation Section, Tom's civil litigation practice emphasizes defense of mass multi-party litigation. He has extensive civil jury trial experience in state and federal court, with in excess of 30 jury verdicts, and a much greater number of cases that settled during trial. His specific experience includes defending mass tort cases, commercial litigation, commercial arbitrations and personal injury cases. Tom has significant experience in multi-district litigation on both the state and federal level. He represents defendants in Federal MDLs 875, 2179 and 2185. He also represents defendants in the Texas Asbestos MDL and the Texas Silica MDL.
Tom also has a substantial civil appellate litigation practice. He has presented oral arguments before the Texas Supreme Court, the Courts of Appeals for the First, Fifth, Sixth, Ninth, Thirteenth and Fourteenth Districts of Texas, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
"I am honored and humbled to have been selected for membership,” says Mr. Taylor. "ABOTA members are the best in the profession and I am proud to be included in the group."
Mr. Taylor joins Andrews Kurth Kenyon partner Kent W. "Rocky" Robinson of Houston, retired senior partner Jerry L. Beane of Dallas and partner Jeffrey B. McClure of Houston as ABOTA members.
