Andrews Kurth Partner Robin Russell Named "Women Who Mean Business" Finalist by the Houston Business Journal

(Houston, Texas)—Andrews Kurth is pleased to announce that Houston Office Managing Partner, Robin Russell, was named a "Women Who Mean Business" finalist by the Houston Business Journal. The "Women Who Mean Business" awards recognize the City of Houston’s most successful female business leaders in both for-profit and nonprofit industries. Ms. Russell was among 15 finalists in the for-profit category honored at the awards ceremony at the Hilton Americas in Houston, Texas.

Others recognized as finalists included some of the most prominent and well-established Houston businesswomen across the consulting, energy, finance, legal, real estate, manufacturing and transportation industries. The highest honor of the ceremony in the for-profit category, 2016 Business Woman of the Year – For Profit, was awarded to Beth Williams, CEO at TechTrans International.

Ms. Russell is the co-chair of the firm’s Bankruptcy and Financial Restructuring section and serves as a member of numerous firm committees, including the Policy and Finance Committees. Her practice combines a depth of experience in bankruptcy restructuring and litigation with financial transaction work. She represents clients throughout the U.S. in corporate restructurings and reorganizations and provides strategic advice to corporate clients and independent boards on the legal risks associated with counterparty insolvency and the structuring of corporate acquisitions to minimize economic risks in the event of a counterparty’s subsequent financial distress.

Cited as a leading lawyer in her field by numerous legal and trade publications, Ms. Russell is listed as one of Chambers USA’s Leading Business Lawyers in Bankruptcy and Restructuring, among The Best Lawyers in America® and a Texas Monthly “Super Lawyer.” She is an elected fellow in the American College of Bankruptcy, and in 2011 was named by the National Diversity Council as one of the Most Powerful and Influential Women in Texas. She is a frequent speaker on legal ethics, secured lending, bankruptcy and other financial topics and is the author of numerous books and articles.

Ms. Russell is a member of the Alexis de Tocqueville Society of the United Way and the Texas Bar Foundation and serves as an advisory member of multiple charitable boards. In 2015, she was recognized as one of "Houston’s 50 Most Influential Women of 2014” by Houston Woman Magazine, and in 2014, she received the Louise B. Raggio Award from the State Bar of Texas Women and the Law Section. Robin began practicing law at Andrews Kurth following a Texas Supreme Court clerkship. She received her J.D., cum laude, from Baylor University School of Law in 1986 where she was the highest ranking graduate and Editor-in-Chief of the Baylor Law Review. She holds an LL.M in Banking Law Studies from Boston University.
