Andrews Kurth to be Honored with Victory Fund Corporate Ally Award
(Houston, Texas)—On April 17, 2016, the Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund and Institute will honor Andrews Kurth with the Corporate Ally Award at the annual Houston Victory Fund Brunch.
Andrews Kurth has a years-long history of LGBT advocacy and philanthropy and is an industry leader in creating a diverse and culturally competent workplace. The firm consistently scores 90 on the Human Rights Campaign’s (HRC) Corporate Equality Index, and was likely the first major law firm to have a partner level resource devoted full-time to diversity and inclusion strategy.
Andrews Kurth has been a long-time supporter of Victory, as well as the HRC, Lambda Legal, OutLaw and the LGBT Bar Association. The firm participated in the fight for the Houston Equal Rights Ordinance (HERO), rallying business support and media outreach for the effort.
“We couldn’t think of a more deserving recipient of our Corporate Ally Award than Andrews Kurth. For years, Andrews Kurth has led the charge in the fight for equality in Houston and beyond. Through its enthusiastic support for the movement for LGBT rights and its clear commitment to creating a welcoming work environment for its employees, Andrews Kurth is an industry leader among large law firms when it comes to LGBT equality,” said Aisha Moodie-Mills, President & CEO of the Victory Fund.
“I am proud of our firm’s leadership in diversity and inclusion for the legal profession. We are humbled by the Victory Fund’s recognition,” said Bob Jewell, managing partner at Andrews Kurth.
The Victory Fund and Institute is the nation’s largest resource for openly LGBT candidates, public officials and emerging leaders. For more information, visit victoryfund.org.
