Hunton Andrews Kurth Attorney Shaney Lokken Elected to Governing Board of International Academy of Smyrna

Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP is proud to announce that Shaney Lokken has been elected to the Governing Board of the International Academy of Smyrna (IAS), a distinguished charter school in the metro Atlanta area.

As counsel in Hunton Andrew Kurth’s Atlanta office, Lokken brings a wealth of expertise in public finance, having represented governmental issuers, investment banks, and nonprofit borrowers in a variety of tax-exempt financings. Her extensive background includes serving as bond counsel, disclosure counsel, and underwriter’s counsel in numerous projects related to affordable housing, higher education, and economic development.

The International Academy of Smyrna, located in Cobb County, serves grades K-5 and is committed to cultivating global thinkers. The school offers a rigorous, relevant curriculum designed to prepare students to meet future challenges and opportunities. IAS offers an innovative world view curriculum called H.E.A.R.T.S. (Humanities, Experience & Arts) and will be adding middle school in the fall of 2025.

Lokken's appointment aligns with her ongoing commitment to public service and education. She is actively involved in various professional and community organizations, including her role as  President of the Georgia Chapter of Women in Public Finance, and her position on the board of the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation (AVLF).
