Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP Advises on Georgia Power Company’s $55 Million Tax-Exempt Remarketing
Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP acted as counsel to J.P. Morgan Securities LLC as remarketing agent for the remarketing of $55 million Development Authority of Burke County (Georgia) Pollution Control Revenue Bonds (Georgia Power Company Plant Vogtle Project), Fifth Series 1994 (the “Bonds").
The Bonds were initially issued to refinance the acquisition, construction, installation and equipping of the interest of Georgia Power Company (“GPC”) in certain air and water pollution control and sewage and solid waste disposal facilities located at the Vogtle Electric Generating Plant in Burke County, Georgia.
GPC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Southern Company. GPC is engaged in the generation, transmission, distribution, and purchase of electricity, and the sale of electric service within the state of Georgia at retail in over 530 cities and towns (including Athens, Atlanta, Augusta, Columbus, Macon, Rome and Savannah), as well as in rural areas and at wholesale.
