On October 29, 2024, Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP partner Shawn Patrick Regan was elected President of the Federal Bar Council, the premier bar organization for Federal practitioners in New York, Connecticut and Vermont.

With nearly 3,000 members, including judges, prosecutors, public defenders, professors and leading private practitioners, the Federal Bar Council is dedicated to promoting excellence in Federal practice, service to the judiciary and fellowship among the bench and bar.

“We are proud to recognize Shawn’s appointment as President of the Federal Bar Council as he continues the firm’s tradition of leadership in the legal industry,” said Sam Danon, managing partner of the firm. “It is an honor to have Shawn represent the firm as he leads the Council in its important work of supporting the Federal judiciary and promoting the administration of justice, the Rule of Law and excellence in Federal practice.”

Regan leads the Corporate & Securities Litigation and Government Investigations practice groups firmwide. His practice focuses on complex litigation, putative class/mass actions, securities litigation and government investigations. In addition to his work as lead trial counsel in courts and arbitral forums, Shawn has argued and been lead counsel of record in numerous appeals, including in the Supreme Court of the United States, the New York State Court of Appeals and several United States Circuit Courts of Appeals. He has been appointed to a number of positions by the judges of the courts, is a regular invited attendee of the Second Circuit Judicial Conference and has held many senior leadership positions within the Council, including as an inaugural member of its Inn of Court 25 years ago, chairing each of the Council’s signature events and serving in several Officer positions.

“It will be a privilege to serve as President of the Council, which has given me so very much over my career,” Regan said. “I look forward to leading our tremendous staff, my talented fellow Officers and our remarkable Board, comprised of many of the leading lights in the Second Circuit Bar, to further our vital work, serve the judiciary and mentor the next generation of great lawyers.”
