Hunton Andrews Kurth Represents Remarketing Agent in Connection with Georgia Power Company’s Tax-Exempt Remarketings
Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP acted as counsel to Morgan Stanley & Co. LLC, as remarketing agent to the remarketing of $71.7 million Development Authority of Bartow County (Georgia) Pollution Control Revenue Bonds (Georgia Power Company Plant Bowen Project), First Series 2013 (“the “Bartow Bonds”) and $85 million Development Authority of Burke County (Georgia) Pollution Control Revenue Bonds (Georgia Power Company Plant Vogtle Project), First Series 2012 (the “Burke Bonds” and together with the Bartow Bonds, the “Bonds”). The Burke Bonds were initially issued to refinance the acquisition, construction, installation and equipping of the interest of Georgia Power Company (“GPC”) in certain air and water pollution control and sewage and solid waste disposal facilities (the “Vogtle Project”) located at the Vogtle steam electric generating plant in Burke County, Georgia. The Bartow Bonds were initially issued to provide funds to refinance the cost of the acquisition, construction, installation and equipping of certain air and water pollution control and sewage and solid waste disposal facilities (the “Bowen Project”) located at GPC’s Bowen steam electric generating plant in Bartow County, Georgia.
GPC is a wholly owned subsidiary of The Southern Company. GPC is engaged in the generation, transmission, distribution, and purchase of electricity and the sale of electric service within the State of Georgia at retail in over 530 cities and towns (including Athens, Atlanta, Augusta, Columbus, Macon, Rome and Savannah), as well as in rural areas and at wholesale.
