Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP provided both legal and non-legal services to Microporous, LLC, a Tennessee-based manufacturer of battery components, as it pursues the investment of $1.35 billion in manufacturing facilities that will create more than 2,000 jobs at the Southern Virginia Megasite in Pittsylvania County. Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin announced the project on Wednesday, November 13 at the Southern Virginia Megasite at Berry Hill with members of the Hunton Andrews Kurth team in attendance. The publicly owned megasite, the largest in Virginia and the southeastern United States and third largest on the East Coast, comprises more than 3,500 acres.

A multidisciplinary team of economic developers and attorneys from Hunton Andrews Kurth’s Global Economic Development, Commerce, and Government Relations (GECON) public affairs consultancy and Business Tax practice group helped Microporous evaluate tax credit programs that could apply to its unique manufacturing enterprise and subsequently provided outreach to various Virginia state government entities to help facilitate implementation of the programs.

The Hunton Andrews Kurth team on the project included managing director Todd Haymore, counsel Travis Hill, and director of economic and business development Lee Downey from the Richmond-based GECON team, as well as partner Jason Feingertz in New York and associate Zachary Roop in Richmond.
