New York — June 10, 2009 — Hunton & Williams LLP continues to lead the way in serving the community throughout the United States, donating 72,728 hours of its lawyers’ time to pro bono projects, with 99 percent full-time lawyer participation, at its fiscal year ending on March 31. The firm commits to providing pro bono legal services of at least 3 percent of its time devoted to fee-paying clients. This year, Hunton & Williams donated 4.88 percent, marking 15 consecutive years in which the firm’s lawyers have met or exceeded its goal.

“I could not be more proud of our firm,” said Wally Martinez, Hunton & Williams managing partner. “Not only did we surpass our goal, more than 850 of our U.S.-based lawyers volunteered their time for pro bono projects, which clearly underscores our commitment to ensuring that our legal system is accessible to all.”

George Hettrick, who heads the firm’s Community Service Committee, added: “Hunton & Williams lawyers have always shown tremendous community support for those in need and have devoted themselves to broad participation in pro bono efforts. For example, 55 of our lawyers partnered with the National Veterans Legal Services Program to represent veterans in disability ratings appeals, freely giving more than 2,200 hours of their time. Others have fought for the rights of children and in immigration issues. Hunton & Williams is committed to serving its communities through a strong pro bono practice in each of its offices.”
