Hunton & Williams LLP Honored with 2009 North Carolina Bar Association Large Law Firm Pro Bono Award

Raleigh/Charlotte, N.C. — June 2, 2009 — Hunton & Williams LLP’s North Carolina offices in Raleigh and Charlotte have been selected to receive the North Carolina Bar Association’s Large Law Firm Pro Bono Award. Hunton & Williams received this recognition because of the firm’s outstanding commitment to pro bono work. The award will be presented at the annual meeting in Asheville, N.C. on Friday, June 26.

By the end of the firm’s fiscal year, the North Carolina offices of Hunton & Williams dedicated a total of 6,017 hours to pro bono work. Those hours constituted 4.62 percent of all billable work performed during 2008, surpassing the goal of three percent set by the Law Firm Pro Bono Challenge. For the firm’s fiscal year (ending March 31), 100 percent of the attorneys practicing full-time in North Carolina participated in pro bono work.

Hunton & Williams continues to lead the way in serving the community throughout the United States, donating 72,728 hours of its lawyers’ time to pro bono projects. The firm reports nearly 100 percent full-time lawyer participation firmwide in its most-recent fiscal year, marking 15 consecutive years in which the firm has met or exceeded the Law Firm Pro Bono Challenge.
