Hunton Andrews Kurth Wins Multiple 2022 National Law Journal Legal Awards
Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP is pleased to announce that it received multiple recognitions at The National Law Journal’s 2022 Legal Awards, which celebrate attorneys and law firms demonstrating excellence in litigation and appellate work.
The firm was recognized for its pro bono work as a winner in the ESG and Community Impact Leaders category. Contributing to the judges’ decision to honor the firm were highlights including the firm’s 52,000 hours of pro bono service in 2021, its demonstrated commitment to racial equity and social justice, and its work through the Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program virtual legal aid intake clinics and the George Hettrick Community Law Center.
The firm was named to the publication’s “Appellate Hot List” for the fourth consecutive year. The list spotlights top law firms that have “won key matters before the U.S. Supreme Court and federal courts of appeals, staying true to their practice philosophies along the way.” Led by a former state solicitor general, the firm represents clients in federal and state appellate courts nationwide, including in the Supreme Court of the United States and in every federal court of appeals.
In addition, Thomas B. Griffith, special counsel to the firm and former judge on the D.C. Circuit, was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award for his longstanding contributions to the legal profession. Appointed to the United States Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit by President George W. Bush in 2005, Judge Griffith served on the court for 15 years until his retirement in 2020. A standard bearer among advocates of the rule of law, judicial independence and civic charity, he is highly regarded across the political spectrum for his contributions to the legal profession and his appeals for mutual understanding and legitimate debate as essential to maintaining the integrity of and public confidence in government institutions at home and abroad.
Judge Griffith joined the firm in 2021, focusing his practice on appellate litigation, congressional and internal investigations, and strategic counseling. Also in 2021, he was appointed to the bipartisan Presidential Commission on the Supreme Court of the United States, among other engagements.
All honorees, including Judge Griffith, will be recognized at an awards event on October 20. View the full list of honorees.
