Lisa Sotto Recognized Again in Crain’s New York Business Notable Women in Law List

Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP is pleased to announce that Lisa Sotto, chair of the firm’s top-ranked global privacy and cybersecurity practice and managing partner of the firm’s New York office, has been recognized in Crain’s New York Business’ 2020 Notable Women in Law list.

The list honors female lawyers who have significantly impacted New York City through their professional, civic and philanthropic achievements, and it marks the second time that Lisa has been included among Crain’s Notable Women in Law, having been honored in the publication’s inaugural 2017 list.

Lisa has received widespread recognition for her work in the areas of privacy and cybersecurity. Most recently, she was named as one of SC Media’s 2019 Women in Security PowerPlayers, and she was recognized as one of The National Law Journal’s “100 Most Influential Lawyers” in the country. Chambers USA named her a “Star” performer—the only privacy lawyer in the United States to receive the guide’s highest ranking. She has was rated the “No. 1 privacy professional” in all surveys by Computerworld magazine.

Lisa currently serves as chair of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Data Privacy and Integrity Advisory Committee, on which she has served for 14 years. She was also selected as an arbitrator in connection with the U.S. Department of Commerce and European Commission’s EU-U.S. Privacy Shield Framework Binding Arbitration Program. She is editor and lead author of the Privacy and Cybersecurity Law Deskbook, a 1,400-page treatise with annual updates.

Despite her work globally, Lisa still finds time for community service. When she served as chair of the New York office pro bono committee, she established a legal clinic at the St. Agnes Homeless Drop-In Shelter and was awarded the Champion of Justice Award by the New York City Bar Association.
