Los Angeles Business Journal Names Two California Attorneys to 2024 “Thriving in Their 40s” List
Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP is proud to announce that Partners Jane Hinton and Thomas R. Waskom were selected to the Los Angeles Business Journal’s 2024 Leaders of Influence: Thriving in Their 40s list. This feature “honors the region’s most impressive professionals across several key categories of trusted advisors,” including real estate, law, education, healthcare, philanthropy, finance and technology.
As a partner in the firm’s Los Angeles office on the Capital Finance & Real Estate Team, Hinton brings a broad range of experience to commercial real estate and finance transactions, representing investors, financial institutions, investment funds, and other clients in single-asset and portfolio transactions nationally. She focuses on highly structured debt and equity real estate transactions while also maintaining a nationwide diversified practice in real estate law that includes leasing, acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures and lending throughout the capital stack, such as mortgage, mezzanine and preferred equity financing. Hinton also serves as Office Diversity and Inclusion Initiative Leader Co-Chair for the firm’s Los Angeles office, and in this role has worked to promote engagement opportunities and educational programs on diversity with the goal of fostering greater awareness and understanding of important issues on social justice and racial and gender equality and promoting a culture of diversity and inclusion within the firm. She also acts as the Los Angeles office hiring partner with responsibility for the Summer Associate program for the office, a position in which she also promotes a culture of diversity and inclusion within the firm.
Waskom is co-head of the firm’s product liability and mass tort litigation practice group. His practice focuses on class action, mass tort and environmental litigation. Waskom defends class actions and product liability cases on behalf of companies in a variety of industries, including consumer and industrial products, energy and transportation. Waskom also counsels and advises clients regarding regulatory issues and risk mitigation. As Co-Chair of the firm’s Litigation Writing Award Committee, Waskom administers and oversees the firm’s Annual Litigation Writing Award, which was established in 2009 to recognize the best brief or legal memorandum by an associate. Outside of the office, Waskom, has worked to improve public schools. Having served as Assistant Secretary of Education for Virginia before attending law school, Waskom serves as a member of the advisory board (and former board chair) for Higher Achievement, a non-profit organization providing after-school tutoring and mentoring to middle school students.
