Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP is pleased to announce that partner Andrea DeField and senior attorney Angela Morrison have been named awardees of the inaugural Miami-Dade Bar Circle of Excellence Awards in the Insurance Law and Environmental and Land Use categories, respectively. The awards honor attorneys and paralegals in Miami Dade who personify excellence and exemplify the values and ethics of those in the legal profession. Winners will be celebrated with a ceremony and reception on November 14.

DeField, a partner in the insurance coverage practice and leader of the firm’s cyber insurance practice, finds risk management, risk transfer and insurance recovery solutions for public and private companies. Her clients include many Fortune 500 companies, particularly in the retail and consumer products, energy, hospitality, and financial services industries. DeField has represented and counseled numerous clients on large cyber-related insurance claims arising out of social engineering and fraudulent transfer schemes, data breaches, cyber extortion, and/or other internationally publicized cyber incidents. As part of her counseling practice, DeField adds value to business deals by advising clients on contractual risk transfer through indemnity, additional insured and required insurance provisions in contracts. She also helps clients identify and mitigate risk before a loss occurs by conducting insurance due diligence for mergers and acquisitions and audits of clients’ insurance programs to identify gaps in coverage before renewal. DeField has litigated and arbitrated insurance coverage and bad faith cases throughout the country.

Morrison draws on more than three decades of experience to assist clients with environmental permitting and compliance matters at federal, state and local levels. She focuses a large part of her practice on the Clean Air Act (CAA), providing clients with practical advice in this complex area of environmental law. Morrison also has broad environmental experience and counsels clients on matters related to wetlands and navigable waters, water use, endangered species, land use, contaminant release reporting, risk assessment, remediation, and solid and hazardous waste. She is a frequent writer and speaker on topics related to the CAA and climate change.
