National Law Journal Names Partners Among 2020 Washington D.C. Trailblazers and Crisis Leadership Trailblazers

Hunton Andrews Kurth is pleased to announce the National Law Journal has recognized partners Torsten Kracht and Susan F. Wiltsie among its 2020 Washington D.C. Trailblazers. The list spotlights 30 litigators who have marked new paths in the courtroom.

Wiltsie, a partner in the Labor & Employment group, has been assisting employers with safety and health compliance and defense for over thirty years, including matters involving infectious disease in the workplace. When the pandemic hit, Wiltsie was prepared to direct pandemic response for her clients at a time when very little governmental guidance was in place. Once guidance and mandates were issued, Wiltsie developed COVID-19 risk mitigation strategies that reconciled evolving and conflicting governmental requirements and well positioned employers for OSHA, workers compensation and tort defense.

Wiltsie has also successfully defended COVID-19 workplace litigation. With the pandemic redefining workplace safety and health law, Wiltsie is at the very front of those firsts.

In addition to being named a Washington D.C. Trailblazer, The National Law Journal named Torsten Kracht among its 2020 Crisis Leadership Trailblazers as well. The list features 30 “movers and shakers in the legal industry who have made an impact in their sector through new types of strategies or innovative court cases… [and] made significant marks on the practice, policy and technological advancements in their sector.”

Kracht was chosen for his development of Hunton Andrews Kurth’s COVID-19 litigation tracker – an infographic-based tool that tracks coronavirus litigation at the federal and state levels. It is an authoritative resource on the number and types of litigation related to COVID-19 and has received extensive media attention nationally over the past few months.

As a leader of the firm’s Washington D.C. Litigation practice, a member of the firm’s COVID-19 working group and general counsel of the firm’s wholly-owned legal-technology-services provider, Cognicion, Kracht has spent much of his career analyzing data to plan and pursue successful claims on behalf of the firm’s corporate clients, as well as to successfully defend clients against complex claims in litigation.
