A new Nevada privacy law is “far more limited” than California’s consumer privacy legislation that was passed last year, Lisa Sotto told DataGuidance. However, the Nevada law, an Act Relating to Internet Privacy (SB 220), goes into effect Oct. 1—earlier than the Jan. 1 effective data for the California law—so companies must “focus quickly” on the Nevada legislation, she said.
