Two Hunton Andrews Kurth Attorneys Named Greater Richmond Bar Foundation’s Volunteers of the Year

Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP is pleased to announce that counsel Jennifer “Jendy” Daglio and associate Joshua Hanbury have been named as two of the four recipients of the Greater Richmond Bar Foundation’s (GRBF) Benjamin R. Lacey IV Volunteer of the Year award for their efforts with the Eviction Diversion Program (EDP).

In response to Richmond’s having the second most evictions of any large city in the country, the EDP Program matches qualifying tenants with volunteers serving as third-party neutrals to negotiate payment plans that deploy grant funds to help pay overdue rent. Through the work of numerous volunteers recruited and trained by Hanbury and Daglio since EDP launched in October 2019, the program has helped over 260 of Richmond tenants avoid eviction and eliminate enduring stains on their record. As a GRBF Triage Project Co-Champion, Hanbury led efforts to develop a corps of EDP volunteers responsible for implementing EDP in the City of Richmond. Daglio started as a committed EDP volunteer who provided feedback that helped refine the program, in particular developing a case-tracking system that has proven invaluable to EDP’s continued success in the current remote work environment. Daglio assumed the role of Co-Champion for 2020-21 after Hanbury’s team ended this summer, though Hanbury continues to serve as an EDP volunteer.

Daglio is an attorney in the firm’s corporate group. Her practice focuses on structured finance, asset securitization, mortgage servicing rights, and other corporate finance transactions. Daglio represents lenders and borrowers in a variety of financings including: repurchase and warehouse facilities involving residential and commercial mortgage loans, student loans, and agricultural loans; securitizations of servicing advances and servicing fees; and relating to sales and acquisitions of mortgage servicing rights. Her experience also includes providing advice on residential mortgage loan originations, regulatory matters including TRID and RESPA compliance, and compliance with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac seller guides. Daglio is actively involved in pro bono matters as a volunteer conciliator in the Richmond Voluntary Eviction Diversion Program and as a GRBF/CVLAS Triage Co-Champion for the Eviction Diversion Program. 

Hanbury is a litigation associate with a talent for managing clients’ needs in complex litigation. In particular, clients from the financial services, environmental, and products manufacturing sectors rely on Hanbury’s agility and process management skills to guide them through all facets of discovery and ESI governance. Since 2010, he has dedicated over 1,000 hours to helping low-income tenants with housing disputes through Legal Aid Justice Center and Hunton Andrews Kurth’s Church Hill Neighborhood Pro Bono office. Hanbury has obtained favorable settlements in the thousands of dollars for wrongfully evicted tenants, successfully defended tenants against retaliatory and unfounded eviction attempts and reached dozens of favorably negotiated resolutions for his clients.
