Many banks want to use customer data and many customers aren’t bothered—but the situation isn’t that simple because federal rules govern the use of customer data. The law requires banks to inform customers that they gather and use customer information. “Banks live and breathe by the GLB Act,” Lisa Sotto tells BAI Banking Strategies. “It laid the groundwork for what banks need to do to protect consumers.”
