Please join us at these great events coming up this fall.  Several members of Hunton & Williams’ Privacy and Information Management team are presenting at these events to discuss the current and evolving privacy and data security issues occurring around the world.

Internet Rights and Technology: A Practical Legal Guide to Doing Business on the Internet – New York City Bar
On September 28, 2010, 6:00 p.m. – 8:45 p.m., the New York City Bar hosts a live program to discuss how the Internet affects various areas of law, including intellectual property, new media, litigation, regulatory and licensing.  The faculty includes Hunton & Williams partner, Aaron P. Simpson, who will lead the Privacy & Data Security session.

IAPP Privacy Academy – Baltimore, Maryland
On Wednesday, September 29, 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., the Centre for Information Policy Leadership, along with Jennifer Barrett, Global Privacy and Public Policy Executive of Acxiom Corporation, will hold a pre-conference workshop on “Accountability on the Ground.”  For the Centre, Marty Abrams, Executive Director, and Richard Thomas, Global Strategy Advisor and former UK Information Commissioner, will lead a comprehensive discussion on the developments in accountability-based governance, which includes the Article 29 Working Party’s recent opinion and the newly introduced legislation detailing the accountability principle section of the APEC Privacy Framework.

32nd International Conference of Data Protection and Privacy Commissioners – Jerusalem, Israel
On October 27-29, 2010, the Israeli Law, Information and Technology Authority (“ILITA”) hosts a week of privacy activities to mark the 30th anniversary of the OECD Privacy Guidelines.  Various events will take place to discuss the legal and regulatory frameworks in the EU, U.S. and OECD, as well as in Israel, and emerging technologies and privacy and governance issues.  Hunton & Williams speakers include:
